How Hope Beyond Scarcity collects, protects, and uses donor and visitor information.

Hope Beyond Scarcity is a Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporation based in Toronto, Ontario. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit hopebeyondscarcity.com, donate, volunteer, or create an account.
Information we collect
- Account information: full name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and optional phone number or location.
- Donation information: gift amount, currency (CAD), frequency, and receipt history. Card numbers are never stored on our servers; payments are processed by Stripe.
- Volunteer information: areas of interest, availability, and the messages you send us.
- Technical information: device, browser, and anonymized usage data used to keep the site secure and fast.
How we use your information
- To process donations and issue official receipts.
- To manage your account, recurring gifts, and volunteer applications.
- To send program updates, appeals, and impact reports you have asked to receive.
- To meet Canadian legal, accounting, and charitable reporting requirements.
Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. We use this information solely to create and authenticate your Hope Beyond Scarcity account. We never sell it, and we never request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or any other Google user data.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate: Stripe (payments), Supabase (secure database and authentication), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare (security). Each is bound by contract to protect your information.
Retention and security
Donation records are retained for the period required by the Canada Revenue Agency. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access limited to authorized staff.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time from your dashboard or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your profile data; donation records required for tax reporting are retained in anonymized form.
Children
Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
